Kirkcaldy Rugby Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Richard Dewar, a lifelong member of our rugby family and a proud son of the club.
Richard came through the youth ranks in the 80s at and went on to represent the senior side throughout the 1980s and 1990s. One of the most successful eras in the club.
A combative back-row forward, he was never afraid of hard work or a tackle, and more than once found himself lending a hand in the front row when the team needed him most. His commitment, toughness, and quiet humour earned him the respect of teammates and opponents alike.
Off the field, he was just as much a part of the fabric of the club. Known for his musical talents, he brought the same energy to the clubhouse as he did to the pitch — especially as the much-loved DJ at the annual Christmas Eve Disco, a highlight of the club’s social calendar for many years. His playlists, banter, and enthusiasm helped forge memories that will live long in the hearts of those who knew him.
He will be remembered not just for his strength and skill on the field, but for his warmth, wit, and the way he brought people together. The club extends our heartfelt condolences to Brian, Avril and his family/friends.
