Wee Blues at Madras
A fantastic day of rugby for the Wee Blues at the Madras Festival in St Andrews, with brilliant performances and tremendous effort shown across all age groups.
The P3s were outstanding throughout the tournament, winning all four of their group matches. In the semi-final they faced a strong Howe side, drawing 3-3, but advanced to the final as group winners. The final against Dunfermline was a thriller, with Kirkcaldy narrowly edged out 3-2 following a couple of unfortunate calls.
Despite the disappointment, the P3s were exceptional from start to finish. Every player contributed and the team finished with an incredible tally of 28 tries to 13 against.
The P4s finished second in their group after an unbeaten and relentless run throughout the day. Unfortunately, the group format did not include a final, with overall standings decided purely on points, meaning they narrowly missed out on top spot despite not losing a game. A fantastic effort from the squad.
Our P5s recovered superbly after losing their opening game to a very strong Strathmore side. They responded by winning their remaining five group games to finish runners-up in the group and reach the semi-finals against Madras. The match finished 5-5, but Madras progressed on the tournament rule favouring the group winners in the event of a draw.
The P6s displayed tremendous teamwork and determination through a tough set of fixtures, helped by excellent contributions from P7 players Riley, Bailey, Keir and Lukasz.
The P7s topped their group with four wins from five matches, suffering only one narrow defeat all day.
Kirkcaldy placed third overall, out of ten teams competing at the Fife & Forfar Cup!
Well done to all players, coaches and supporters on a tremendous day representing Kirkcaldy RFC.
