U18 boys 39-19 Angus colts
The Cairn Independent Ltd U18s kicked off their season with a fine win at home. After a lot of fitness work the boys were delighted to play on the big pitch and it being 19 degrees.
The started off well, in the first minute as Ronan ghosted round his opposite number to score.
The blues looked a bit rusty after this, with some unlucky off- loads not going to hand and too many penalties disrupting play.
After 16 mins Ronan scored his second with some fine support play, before Angus hit back to score.
The blues then started to play with more structure and saw some strong forward runs from Bean, Matthew, Innis and captain Euan O. This led to a good pick and drive phase from the forwards with Bean scoring.
With 30 minutes gone, a good team try saw Caelan score out wide with Alan P knocking over his 2nd conversion. HT 24-7
The half-time team talk worked when Bean rumbled over for his second try of the day. Angus hit back with a couple of good tries of their own.
Bean the scored his ‘hatrick’ - not often seen for a prop before Angus had the final score 39-19.
Well done to both Angus Colts and the blues for an entertaining game, on the main pitch in front of an appreciative crowd. How rugby should be.
Some good performance but PoM Owen T - aka Bean. A hard working performance from the prop and a well deserved 3 tries. A consistent performer over the last 2 seasons and well deserved today.
Massive thanks to the referee for running the game today too.
